Thank you Michael! I will have to look in my collection for the plus 5. I recognize 2 of the songs Please Don't Rush Me is actually one of my favorites. I might have the other 3 but just don't recognize them. Does anyone know if this set is worth getting if you already own Mink Jazz? Hello Frank. Cannonball Express. Track Listing - Disc 3. Your original posting got me listening to "Pretty Eyes" again, and it has become quite a favourite for me now.
I never looked back after that! I am so glad you "discovered" Peggy, her music, and of course this website. I hope you continue to enjoy La Lee! Gee, I feel like the Wicked Witch of the West But not too worry -- my online wrath is reserved just for people who want to tell others what to do, or how to censor themselves.
Other than on encounters of that kind when my temper easily gets the best of me , I tend to be fairly mellow. I think. Not only that, I bought their previous Peggy box, too.
And my reaction to the box was almost identical to yours, Bob N. I particularly agree that it is an attractive package, as many Properboxes are. Many black and white photos and a lot of info, too. Unfortunately, I found some 5 or 6 factual errors in the well-intended notes, and a few more in the track info.
We full-on fans of Peggy will of course buy attractive products such as this one. We can't help ourselves, and we ain't gonna stop anytime soon. I was saying that it is in our collective best interest to buy legitimate, official label products, because good sales will compel the official labels to release more Peggy material in their vaults. Meanwhile, the non-official labels are for the most part re-packaging material that have been already released -- with the exception of a few good, fan-oriented labels, such as Sepia Records, which issue 78 and 45 stuff not yet on CD.
I have to say, though, that we fans of Peggy haven't had it so bad, compared to fans of some other vocalists of classic pop. We've gotten a lot of her albums on CD already.
The non-official labels do not pay songwriters, estates, or for significant remastering. They do digital restoration, but not the big cleaning job done by any official label that first issues any given track.
Don't know if I'm explaining this clearly, and maybe I shouldn't get into it, since my knowledge of this matter is very limited.
So, if the album is not going to sell enough copies to offset all the expenses in which the official label has incurred, it is no wonder if they don't consider the album's release a high priority. Purely from a fan perspective, the ideal would be for everybody to buy from both the official and the non-official labels. Newer Topic Older Topic. Energetic Happy Hypnotic.
